Vashti Murphy McKenzie is a bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church -- the first female bishop in its history -- and serves in the 13th Episcopal District, which includes Tennessee and Kentucky. President Obama has appointed her to the advisory council to the White House Office for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
